Sweet + Salty Popcorn
It's National Popcorn Day, and what better way to celebrate than by sharing my favorite popcorn recipe?! I love this recipe because it always manages to satisfy my sweet and salty cravings but with only half the amount of calories of other popular sweet + salty snacks. This popcorn is perfect for a go-to snack or an on your couch movie night. It can also be dressed up with m&ms or drizzled with chocolate to make it a real treat. It is sure to be a family favorite and keep you from dropping insane amounts on the name brand stuff at the grocery!
Sweet and Salty Popcorn
The perfect go-to snack to satisfy your sweet and salty cravings!
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- TT salt
Instructions
1. In a large pot with lid, heat canola oil over medium heat. Once oil is hot, stir in sugar and popcorn kernels. (I like to place a single kernel in the oil. Once it pops, I know the oil is hot enough!)2. Cover pot with lid, leaving small gap in order to release steam and to prevent oil from spattering. To prevent sugar from burning, shake pot constantly. 3. Allow popcorn to pop. Once the popping sound slows, remove pot from heat. Pour in a large bowl and sprinkle with salt. You can make popcorn sweeter by adding more sugar or saltier by adding more salt! You decide what you like best!
